Food on Susceptibility of Stored-Product Insects

The availability or the type of food can influence insect susceptibility to pesticides or heat treatments physically by providing a refuge and nutritionally by making insects healthier and more resistant. Food may also remove pesticide from insects as they move through it. A good sanitation program therefore is important to maximize the effectiveness of pesticides or heat treatments.
