Dimorphism Inventory

Halstead (1963) gives male-female dimorphism for 80 species of stored-product insects that belong to 16 families. For 43 of 80 species, dimorphism was an abdominal character. The genital papillae character also works for pupae of pyralid moths and Tribolium spp. (see Fundamental of Stored-Product Entomology book) as well as the 8 families given in Halstead (1963). This inventory should be helpful in finding methods to distinguish males from females of other species of stored-product insects.
